July 1, 2005 - Helen: Riding
in the car from North Carolina to New York gets old in a hurry! So, as long
as my laptop battery holds up, I'm doing some work on the website. Once all
the pages I updated are uploaded to the website, all our family information
will be in the "Secure" folder and you will need the userid and
password to access them. If you can't remember what they are, send me e-mail
and I'll fill you in: Helen_Nulty@unc.edu. We are excited about the family
reunion at Camp O. We also plan to visit with Tom's brother, Phil, and his
family in Cortland on the way through. Hope we don't miss dinner. We got all
the cats an dogs settled down with lots of food and water. Tom's brother,
Pat, will be taking a "sitting" shift beginning tonight until Jean
gets back in town next Tuesday. We hope the house is still standing when we
get there. Tom rigged up some clever feeding chutes on the side of the garage
for the dogs. He cut two holes in the side of the garage and inserted two
plastic tubs (recycled Tidy Cat litter tubs) with their ends cut out. They
are mounted at an angle down to the pet dishes below. We'll let you know how
that works out.
Sure would like to hear more from y'all. I expect lots of news after this weekend.
August 7, 2005 - Helen: A cd of pictures arrived in the mail from Phil yesterday...some that he had taken, some that Teri had taken. I'm working on getting them all up on the website. Sure would like to hear some of the stories behind the pictures... hint, hint. Reunion 2005
Marti: Hi - We took Marcus for his 1-yr photo session this week. We'll be sending actual photos of the really close-up pic w/ him grinning. Just thought you might like to see some of the others. The one with the devil-child look on his face is hysterical!! - he was throwing blocks all over the studio!! Talk to you all soon!
To view these pictures, copy and paste this link https://www.searsphotos.com/?shareid=S203108019lV4NREN465V into the address line of your Web browser.
August 10, 2005 - Helen: Take a look at the Reunion 2005 pictures. I've added a few more. Tom and I have been working on trimming out the lawn. Ruby, next door, called the State to do something about the overgrown weeds on our triangle. She said she couldn't see to safely proceed out onto Church Road. I didn't know that before I ordered a wheeled, gas-powered string trimmer. That little thing is awesome! We ought to be able to keep our act together now. We have another batch of little kittens...part dark tiger and Siamese.
August 15, 2005 - Helen: I just had an email from Paul LaDuke with this old picture of Mom's Aunt Josephine standing in the doorway of Fine School behind the group of students who were attending at the time.
August 29, 2005 - Helen: I just spoke to Mary on the phone. I was amazed that I could get through!
She and Mike are weathering Hurricane Katrina at home. They lost power shortly before 7 this morning. They still have water and so far the phones are working. Mary said there were lots of branches down and something banging around on the roof. They will be buckled down until Katrina passes through by 7 this evening.
Mike, Rayell and family drove to Florida, somewhere on the Georgia border near Tallahassee yesterday. Mary said they hadn't heard from them yet; they might not have been able to get through. She asked that we all pray for them.
I know many of us tried to send 50th Birthday cards to Bob, but his e-mail box is full! If you happen to see this on the web, Bob, let's get that mailbox cleaned out. Hope you had a great day and did something fun.
I talked to Dad Saturday morning and he really sounds chipper. He's thinking about possibly trading cars; says he wants to get to 200,000 miles on the current one first; may have to have work on the brakes as Rod [Langevin] says they have about 5000 miles left on them. He was expecting Phil & Trish and family for a visit. Phil and Bob were going to work on the electrical - replace fuses with circuit breakers. He said that Sue got the principal's job at Clifton-Fine. Congratulations, Sue! We know it is work that is close to your heart. We are wishing you success with your goals and hope for a long period of stability for Clifton-Fine.
Keep Kaeleen in your prayers, also, as her due date draws near. She is working with Social Services but so far is falling short of what she needs.
Sure would like to hear more from y'all. Dad was wondering how Paula is doing. Anybody have an update?
Aunt Sue: Judd and I were thinking of Mary and was wondering how she was making out in the storm. The last storm we had in Florida hit our Park and about 50 homes were destroyed. Our neighbor across the road from us lost his carport and part of his porch. We were very fortunate this time we didn't have any damage. We just hope and pray that everyone is safe. Audrey abd Deb were down to our house for a visit this past week and stayed a couple of days and we really enjoyed their visit. Keep in touch. Sue & Judd
August 30, 2005 - Helen: I haven't been able to get through to Mary this morning, and not again yesterday after I talked to her in the morning. She did say that after the storm passed [Katrina] she would get in touch to let us know how they made out.
I have been following the news reports and it doesn't look good down there at all. I have faith that Mary and Mike are OK. Their house is strong, a couple miles away from the coast and has an interior room like you're instructed to use when you ride out a hurricane.
It may be a while before they are able to contact anyone. If anybody hears from them, please let the rest of us know as soon as possible.
Looks like the New Yorkers are going to get some rain out of this.
Julie: We are staying busy. I think I will be able to get into my classroom tomorrow. I have met all of my students. Matt and Shannon are nervous about student teaching. Ryan doesn't want school to start, and Cole and Daniel are ready for it. I managed to get most of my list (of summer projects) completed; one the contractor can't get to until this fall. So I feel that I accomplished something. Matt just found out that he has 4 classes after student teaching instead of the 3 he thought. LeMoyne only lets you take 9 hrs grad., so he is hoping to convince them that he can take 12. His grades are fine, so I would think that they would be willing. I guess we will see. I need to get the kids to a dentist appt, thanks for keeping us updated.
Teri: [Josh update] He is doing really well - he emails us frequently and called for the first time this week-end. He is really struck by how diverse London is - he calls the area where their apartment building is located Little Lebanon. He passes Picadilly Circus on his way to his class building - he is already planning his first week long trip during their break the last week in September.
Dan suggested that he keep a journal on line for all of us to read - he does not have internet in his flat yet but can access it at the campus building and has found a little internet cafe that he uses.
September 1, 2005 - Helen: Still no word from the Herndons. To do a better job of keeping everyone informed I have created this page: Herndons The most recent items will be on the top of the page. You will need the userid and password - userid is firstname of Bob or Lucy Helen's mother; password is lastname of Bob or Lucy Helen's mother. If you have problems, email me. Y'all keep in touch.
6:20 pm - Helen: I just finished talking to Mary on the phone - Bill's cell phone. It feels so good to know they are safe and sound. They left for Pensacola, FL, today about noon and were there by 4 pm - had to wait in line for gas for about 15 minutes. They are staying with the sister of Debbie Mauer, a good friend of Mary's. J. Mike stayed home in Ocean Springs babysitting the hamsters. He has a small generator that will keep the refrigerator going...they stood in line at Home Depot in order to get that. Mary took her dirty laundry with her hoping to get it cleaned before going back to Mississippi. She was looking forward to a shower and a good meal.
Mary said that Bill did get the text message on his cell phone from Julie and the one from Dan Hoen. He tried to reply but was unable to. I suggested to Mary that she have Bill try to get text messaging configured on his phone because I've heard that it will be free from all service providers for the next month while people work their way through this hurricane aftermath.
Mary & Mike sustained no damage to their home - no water inside. A branch did fall from the big oak tree that took off a few tabs on some shingles on their roof. Mike says nothing needs to be repaired. They feel very fortunate. The storm swell crested south of their place. Mike & Rayell made it back to town on Tuesday. Their house is in good shape as well. They are missing a few shingles. They had left the dog outside and it was very happy to be cut loose - it took off like a bolt. Mary didn't say whether it came back or not. They have a tree on their shed. Rayell's mother, Betty, didn't fare as well. She left her home before the storm so she is fine. Her house was under water and may not be salvageable.
The bridge between Ocean Springs and Biloxi on Highway 90 is gone. Mary says the bridge between Biloxi and D'Iberville is still intact. It's a long way around but it works. Sacred Heart church where Mary attended was under 4'-5' of water. St. Martin's middle school now has no roof - Mary worked at the elementary school before she retired. All the nice waterfront homes are gone. Mary said that a new $350,000 home just "down hill" from them had its furniture come out the windows. She and Mike surveyed the area Tuesday afternoon. They went to check on a friend that Mike does handy work for - this couple put their dog in the bathroom for safe-keeping. The water rose so fast that the dog drowned. The couple's business is a total loss. They were having a tough time dealing with all they were dealt.
I asked Mary how we should earmark our resources for the recovery effort. Mary consulted her friend - it would be either Debbie or her sister - who suggested we send our donations directly to Mary. Mary is a member of St. Vincent DePaul and through this organization much good will be done. Mail service is not back in operation yet but we can at least be thinking about sending $$$ that way.
I, for one, will appreciate hearing more stories about the hurricane experience. I know that Mary was absolutely drained when she finished talking to me. She saw a lot of things in her neighborhood that were very unsettling. When she is ready to talk more, please share what you learn. She and her family will never be the same. I invited them to come to North Caroline for a rest. I'll put my cats out to make room for them! I hope they take us up on our offer.
September 2, 2005 - Helen: Happy Birthday, Barb! Number 35. I'm working from home today as a gas savings measure ... I like our newly appointed Operations Manager that came up with this idea. We still do not have news about Ann Seaman Gniady and her family. Anybody have any word?
Jane Martuscello: So thankful to hear that Mary and family are safe. I am also thankful for the cahill-shene web page, I knew just where to go when worried about all the Herndons. You have created an invaluable tool for the whole extended family, thank you for putting so much time into it. Take Care, Jane Martuscello
September 6, 2005 - Helen: Tom and I had a relaxing day yesterday. Spent much of the day goofing off. We went out to dinner at an Italian cafe in Chapel Hill to celebrate our anniversary. I had a $40 gift certificate that I won. After dinner we visited The Cave - a quaint little bar that often has live music. The bartender on duty was from the Albany area. Then we went down to W.B.Yeats Irish Pub. It's nice to go there when it is quiet and relatively empty. Erin called on the cell phone while we were walking along Franklin Street. She and Pete had been camping with Nikki & Sam. We also talked to Peg on the phone.
I had email from Betsy Carey with news of Paula: "Saw Paula in July, she looks good, weighs about 110 now, she was sick with some stomach problem and lost a lot of weight. She had just moved into her new home a couple weeks before we got there, it is real nice. I hope Mary and her family did not lose everything and they are going to be ok job wise. The way the weather has been this past year, I am a little worried about winter."
Keep in touch.
September 10, 2005 - Helen: We had a really newsy email from Mary. I hope she keeps this up! In an earlier email she said to wait on sending donations as the mail is not going through yet.
September 22, 2005 - Helen: The biggest news on the horizon today is hurricane Rita. Hope folks are better prepared than for the last one. Here's an update from Mary.
September 29, 2005 - Barb: Don had his annual physical earlier this week and among other things the doctor found a spot on the edge of his hairline above his temple that he believes may be skin cancer. A nurse practitioner in the office agreed, so they felt it was important that he get it looked at by a specialist immediately. We have an appointment with a dermatologist tomorrow morning where they'll take a sample of the area for a biopsy. If the results come back showing malignancy, he'll have to go back for further treatment. We just want to ask for prayers as Don goes through this process and as we wait for answers. Love, Don & Barb
September 30, 2005 - Brian & Teri: Brian will be in surgery at 3:30 today. Please pray for him. Brian was playing golf with his boss on the 16th. Brian reached for a ball and ruptured his biceps tendon. Is there any update on Dan Hoen?
Barb & Don: Hi all, The sampling is complete. We'll get biopsy results in about 5 days. The dermatologist was a little more encouraging today than what Don heard on Tuesday. He said he wanted to biopsy just to be certain, but that he wasn't immediately convinced that it was malignant. Either way we should know by late next week.
Thanks for all your prayers.
Sam & Nikki: Just wanted to let you all know that I just got diagnosed with celiac. I have been having trouble for many years, and was tested earlier and had one antibody came up positive and my GI doctor said I didn’t have it since my biopsy from the small intestine was negative (this test was done after a fast from gluten, not a load up on gluten) Well, here I am 4 years later still having symptoms and they now have a genetic screening for HLA DQ2 and DQ8…not sure what it means, but I am going to look it up. So, my new doctor ordered it for me. Well, the D8 was positive for me and apparently 95% of people with celiac patients test positive for one or the other, so I am starting the gluten free diet on Monday.
Phil and Peg, can you send me websites, etc. that have helped you please. I am going to start searching for “the rules” tonight. Love you all!
nikki
Helen: Whew! What and end to the month of September!
October 1, 2005 - Brian & Teri: Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. Brian’s surgery went very well. Brian is in a cast till the 11th. Will write more later on.
October 5, 2005 - Barb & Don: Biopsy results are in. The spot was benign!
October 13, 2005 - Helen: Hey, everyone. Trish & Phil have run through the Curlytops books that have been sent to them. Anybody else done with one they can send on? I updated the chart, Curly Tops Books, with where books are, and who has read what so I can tell you who to send yours to when you are finished with it. If I've made any mistakes, please let me know.
The NC folks, except for Kierstin who had to work, got together at Buffalo Lanes in Garner to celebrate Paul's 40th birthday - TODAY!!! We had a good time and Aidan kept up with the adults with a little help from gutter guards. It is interesting to note that the "outlaws, a.k.a. inlaws" present - 1st generation ones anyway - chose not to bowl but sat and chatted with each other instead. Hmmmm! The 2nd generation ones appear to be better trained (Sam and Pete) or have not yet developed this habit. What do you suppose we can make of this? We all went back to Paul & Virginia's for pizza and cake aferward. We go to meet Josie, the combination German Shepherd and standard poodle. She's cute but a little hyper.
Brian & Teri: Brian is doing great. The Dr. took the cast off and replaced it with a brace. Brian is really happy that he can shower without wearing a plastic bag. Two more months and Brian will be good as new! Brian will go for therapy next week, then do the therapy at home after that. We love you all, T & B
Rita: Sisters
October 14, 2005 - Mary: You need to update your Curlytop list. I have already read Cherry Farm and Star Island. I finished Star Island several months ago and sent it to Phil and Trish. Please don't send it to me again until I've read the rest of the books. Any of the others that anyone is finished with I'd love to read. Just send them on when you get a chance. I don't have any here.
Tried to call Paul a few minutes ago. Nobody home. Left a message saying Happy Birthday. Hope he had a good one. You aren't 40 every day!!! Ha, Ha!!! Sometimes your 50 or older than that!! Hope all is well with everyone. I sent a lot of clippings from the newspaper about Hurricane Katrina to Dad. He should have gotten them today. Also sent a few to Helen and Tom. They should get them today or tomorrow. The pictures of the stairs to no where are something to see. House is gone -- just the stairs left. Not much else new. Still huge piles of debris everwhere but they are clearing them away. Take care. Love you all, Mary
October 16, 2005 - Murray Laduke: There has been more than adequate coverage by all aspects of the media on the 16th child born to the Daggar family of Little Rock, Ark.
Where were they when the Cahill/Shene union accomplished the same, without any twin births?
We are moving to Midlothian, Va on 10/21 so will be without email capability for a few days. My Rita is in Hayes, Va and Donna's Diane is in Richmond. Best to you and yours - Murray
Nikki: Pictures from Sam's 30th?? If you guys happen to have any, can you send them to me. Our hard drive crashed a couple months ago and we lost all the pictures from his party. Thanks.
October 26, 2005 - Nora Jean Peg
November 6, 2005 - Marti
Mary - Thanks for sharing you first experience with Baby Maya. She sounds like a cutie. Glad to hear Kaeleen is doing okay. Did you think to take a picture? I can never remember the camera so don't feel bad if you didn't. I'm sure someone will send a picture soon. Maybe at Thanksgiving time. Take care. I know you made Kaeleen's day with your visit. Love ya, Mary
Marti -
I did take quite a few pictures, but I haven't moved into the 21st century
yet and bought a digital camera. So I have to wait to use the
rest of the film, get it developed, then scan the photos.... She's gorgeous!!
November 11, 2005 - Marti
Peg: Just to let you know I took Dad to the doctors yesterday
and she prescribed levaquin, a prescription antibiotic for his left eye, and
a higher dose of prednisone to be stepped back down to his regular 10mg/day.
I had to take him to Dr. Wright here in Star Lake as Dr. B is out of town
until November 18th, but Dr. Wright is the one Dad saw the last time he was
in the hospital and he liked her a lot. He started with a sore throat last
Friday morning and he kept getting worse coughing up a lot of phlem and then
on Wednesday his left eye became red and irritated so I took him yesterday.
She said it was a good thing he came in when he did. I had started asking
him about Monday if he thought he should go and he kept telling me no. Bob
called me on Wednesday after they had lunch and said he thought it was time
for him to go. I tried calling him on Thursday to see how he was and his phone
was out of order due to high wind storms we had so I called Deb Hall as Bob
was in camp and he went down and checked on him. I called to have his phone
repaired and it won't be until Saturday, so I was going to head down after
work yesterday, but Dad showed up in my office just before I got done for
the day and he agreed to let me call the doctor's office. They took him right
in and I was able to get to the drug store before it closed to get his medicine.
I will let you all know if there is any drastic change.
Love, Peg
November 12, 2005 - Marti
Peg: Marti,
It sounds like life is really full for you now. What happened to the house
that they accepted your purchase offer on?
Dode, Jerry and I took Dad to the ER yesterday because his eye was full of
blood. You could not see any white part only the iris. The ER Doc was nice
and gave him as thorough an eye exam as he could with the equipment they had
to work with, but was not comfortable and wanted him to see an opthalmologist.
Dode had called Watertown and her eye doctor was on call, but they wouldn't
put her through to him because Dad wasn't his patient. So the ER Doc said
he would call and talk with him, which he did and Dr. Chao asked all kinds
of questions and was comfortable that it was probably ruptured blood vessels
from coughing, as Dad had no pain in the eye, no pain with looking at light,
no discharge, and his eyesight was unchanged. The ER Doc sent Dad home, but
advised that he see an opthalmologist for a follow up. Dode will make an appointment
with Dr. Chao as a new patient. Dr. Peterson is retiring and Dad needed to
find a new eye doctor anyway and Dr. Chao can do cataract surgeries as well
as other eye surgeries.
Marti - We lost the house that we had made the deal on – 5 days after they accepted our offer, the owners got a cash offer w/ no contingencies. Our offer had a sale contingency for the sale of our house, so we had 3 days to remove our contingency from the offer on the farm. Of course, we could never afford to do that and hold 2 mortgages, so we had to let it go… Since then we’ve looked at several houses, but nothing that’s in the area we really want. So, now we’re at the point where I’m getting uncomfortable leaving our house listed. If we sold it right now, we’d be closing and moving just before the new baby is born. Without any real prospects for houses to buy, we’d have to move to temp housing until we find something. Jim said we could move into his house in Richland if we wanted to since it’s empty, but he also has that on the market. With our luck, it would sell as soon as we moved in… So, we’re thinking it might be best to just hunker down for the winter here, and start looking again after the baby arrives.
November 28, 2005 - Helen: I just finished sending out my new email address to everyone ... I think. In case you didn't get the word, please write me from now on at: hnulty@triad.rr.com. It will take me a while to update all the links on the website.
Check out the News link for pictures of Maya, the latest family arrival. I had email from Audrey saying that St. Joe is going back to work. She also sent a picture of Thanksgiving Day snow ... I think we'll stay right here! We had a warm Thanksgiving day in Greensboro at the home of Shannon Nulty and her boyfriend, Dan Fitzpatrick. Erin and Pete were also there, with Tom's brother, Pat, and Dan's sister, Mom, Dad and friend.
Jean made it home safely from New York.
January 30, 2006 - Helen: I learned via Nikki this morning that Dad had a mild heart attach over night. When I talked to Clark I learned that he is now on the way to Syracuse via ambulance. Peg and Dodie are driving down there together. I phoned Bob who said he is doing OK. His blood pressure is coming back up to where it should be. All assessments at this time is that it is a mild attack. Bob suspects that he'll be in Syracuse for about a week. I will post updates here on the website under the Journal link as I learn more.
7:45 PM - Helen: I just talked to Dodie who is in Syracuse with Dad and Peg. Dad is having a heart cath right now - he's been in the procedure for about an hour now. He has blockage
in more than one artery, a leaky valve and calcium built up in his aorta. Dr. Berkery will see if he can do a stint. If he can he will, if not he'll just close. Dad was given medication to calm him before he left Star Lake that made his breathing very labored. Dodie spoke to the staff about his emphysema and the fact that he hadn't had a nebulizer treatment in quite some time. Dad was given elbuterol to make his breathing easier and seemed to be doing better. He was aware of what the heart cath procedure was and agreed to have it done so Dodie and Peg didn't have to make that decision for him. Dodie will call me as soon as Dr. Berkery gives them an update.
9:45 PM - Helen: Dodie reported in about 9:30. Dad had 2 stints put in, one on the left and one on the right. One is in the same area where he had his heart attack 13 years ago. One of the blockages couldn't be treated - it would have required him to be under the dye to long - too risky. The Dr. hopes he doesn't have too many symptoms from that area. The big concern now is urine output. He will be monitored for a couple days and could go home as soon as Wednesday. He needs to either stay with someone or be monitored for a week once he is released. Peg, Bob, Dodie and Phil will cover that by staying with him at his place. That will work out better. Dad said he was hungry - I think that's a good sign. Somebody asked him how he was doing and he said "as many as I can and the easy ones twice." That sounds like my Dad.
Bob and Sue will be traveling to Syracuse tomorrow to be with him; Peg and Clark are covering Wednesday. We set up a phone tree to get the update out to all of us siblings...I'm still trying to reach Erin...think she's on her phone. I will continue to post information here as I get it. Love to all.
January 31, 2006 - Peg: Dad arrived at Crouse Irving yesterday around 3pm and was being seen by Dr. William Berkery by 4pm. After considerable discussion with the doctor about the risks involved and chest xrays, echocardiogram, blood work etc he was rolled in to have a heart catherization around 5:40 pm. Dr. Berkery explained to us that if there wasn't anything he could do fairly safely he would just back out and see what he could do with medication. He said the heart showed considerable damage from the heart attack.
Dr. Berkery was out to
talk with us about the procedure around 8:15pm. He had two major blockages
one 75% and the other about 90%, he also has a large blockage on the lower
right side from the first heart attack 14 years ago which was left alone then
and he left it alone this time. He placed a stint in the large blockages on
both sides for a total of two stints and said that there was a lot of calcification
and that it was very difficult even to do that much. His biggest concern now
is his kidneys because he had to use so much dye to do the procedure. He said
now the prayers need to take over. He still has a leaky valve which will just
be left alone. He will be monitoring him closely until Wednesday anyway and
then he may possibly come home, but not to be alone for a least a week. When
we know more than this I will try to update. Dode and Gerry are going back
down today as well as Bob & Sue. I have to work today, but Clark and I
will go down on Wednesday possibly to bring him home.
Julie, Dr. Berkery came out to talk to us just about the time you were going
out the door. Nora said she would call you last night.
Thanks again for coming to sit with us, it always helps to have a bunch for
companionship.
February 1, 2006 - Helen: I have not been able to reach Peg since she got to the Hospital to see Dad so I haven't got much to report. I know she is not able to have the cell phone turned on while in Dad's room. I called the hospital one time and got tranferred to a perpetually ringing but not answered line.
The details of Dad's disatisfaction with the hospital are pretty well known by now. He was found wandering the hallways trying to get out of that place a couple times last night. I guess if the staff did a better job of supplying him with medicine to keep his breathing regular he would be more content.
Dodie told me that she had reports from Phil that his urine output is good now. That is one milestone he has to make before he gets sprung from there. I got a chance to talk to Peg when she stopped by Dodie's on her way to Syracuse. Peg and Clark will be staying with their friends Mark and Lis in Syracuse tonight so they don't have to make another round trip to Syracuse. Bob told me that Peg was hoping to get Dad transferred to Star Lake if he is well enough to make that transition. I hope she is successful.
I also talked to Teri. Teri has a 9 am flight out of Chicago tomorrow morning - should get to Syracuse around noon time. She will be in New York until next Tuesday.
I would like to know from the folks in New York if and when it will be helpful to have more fresh volunteers to help monitor Dad once he gets home. Even though the idea of driving in snow again doesn't appeal to me, I do have some vacation time saved up that I haven't already earmarked for our summer trip to New York. I also have enough frequent flyer miles that I can donate a roundtrip to someone who would like to go. Let me know.
I know all your prayers are working because Dad is doing well...doesn't like the hospital, but he is well enough to know he doesn't like it there. Keep them coming and please share any further information that you may have.
Love you all and keep watching the website for futher updates.
February 2, 2006- Helen: Dad made it home safe and sound and went to Hillside for dinner. He's sliding back into his routine.
Teri made it to Syracuse OK and will be staying with Dad until she leaves on Tuesday. She said he is a lot better today. I talked to him for a little bit on the phone. He sounds like his old self but not yet as strong as when I talked to him last. Teri said he is tired. Dad said the Doc gave him clearance to fly solo on Monday. He has a couple new medications. He's pretty sure he'll be invited back to Crouse if he needs to go again.
Dodie will be on hand on Saturday also. They will all probably go to Peg's for dinner.
I had email from Audrey who said that he looks good...and his farter still works!
February 5, 2006 - Peg: Dad is really doing very well. I am just amazed how well he is doing after being so sick. Just being home in familiar surroundings has done wonders for him. Teri said his bloodsugar is finally coming under control also. I think knocking the prednisone back down to 10mg a day has done wonders there. Dr. B had just bumped it up to 20 mg because I had talked with her about his recovery time after movement being so bad, but if he was having those kinds of blockages in his heart all that time that would explain the breathing problem also. Dad says he doesn't remember Monday at all, which was a little un-nerving for me after signing to have the catheterization done when he said he was ready to have it done. Everything worked out okay, but it has taught me that he might seem to be fairly alert and not be. It was a rough couple of days, but we are all doing okay now.
February 14, 2006 - Julia Marsh: DON'T
KNOW IF WORD HAS GOTTEN TO YOU, BUT YOUR UNCLE DICK MORROW IS PRETTY SICK.
HE IS IN THE HOSPITAL IN WATERTOWN (since last Friday).
THEY ARE TREATING HIM FOR A VERY SERIOUS INFECTION AT PRESENT. THE PROBLEM
ORIGINATES IN HIS GALL BLADDER, WHICH WILL HAVE TO BE REMOVED AT SOME POINT.
TALKED TO TEE LAST NIGHT - SAYS HE SEEMS TO BE A LITTLE BETTER. ALICE AND
JOHN Q. ARE THERE NOW, WHICH MAKES ME FEEL GOOD. TEE ISN'T ABLE TO DRIVE AND
TO HAVE SOMEONE WITH HER IS COMFORTING. HER CHILDREN ARE VERY CARING, THANK

He is on radiation treatment at this time in Syracuse and so far he is feeling alright. We would like you put his name on the prayer line. He is very special to us and we are praying for him everyday and would appreciate all your prayers.
Thanks.

8/20/2006 update:
An update on Judd's brother George.
He has been through 14 radiation treatments and had some burns on his head.
He has brain lesions as well as lung cancer.
Now they are trying to increase the red and white blood cells before he starts
his chemo therapy. Hopefully everything will go well. Thank everyone for their
prayers. Judd and I really appreciate them
Love, Aunt Sue & Uncle Judd
July 22, 2006 - Julia Marsh: Please keep Tim Hovey in your prayers. Tim was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse yesterday. He underwent surgery to repair an aneurism and a tear in his aorta. He is doing OK but is very sick.
July 24, 2006 - Peg:
Aunt Alice called yesterday afternoon to let us know that Tim Hovey really
needed our prayers. Saturday night he suffered an aortic tear near his heart
due to an aneurysm. He arrived at St. Joseph's in Syracuse from Watertown
at 2:30am and he was being operated on at 5:30 am, the surgery lasted 5 hours
and he was in ICU when they had to take him back in as he was leaking around
the valve which they then had to replace. Aunt Alice said they expected him
back in ICU in about 40 minutes when she talked with me yesterday afternoon.
Aunt Tee and crew were down there waiting to see him once he got back in ICU.
So please everyone give Tim and his family your thoughts and prayers.
Peg
